Surgeon and Author

Dr. Mehmet Oz, director of the Cardiovascular Institute at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia, is co-author of You: On a Diet and You: The Smart Patient, and can often been seen as a featured medical expert on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Q: Why did you choose to become a heart surgeon?
A: I felt a calling to be in the healing profession and was quickly drawn to the heart. I like the immediacy of the field. We can tell almost immediately if our operations work and we have to address complications expeditiously. Our biggest obstacle is often indecision. These are career demands that I felt comfortable with.

Interview with Ivanka Trump

Ivanka Trump

Ivanka Trump   Biography for Ivanka Trump

Vice President of Development and Acquisitions

Though her father may cast a long shadow, Ivanka Trump has stepped into the spotlight. With her appearances on The Celebrity Apprentice—where you could be sure she’d ask a question that cut to the chase—her jewelry line and her role within the Trump Organization is proof that there is more than one Trump in town.

Q: You seem to have inherited your father’s entrepreneurial spirit with the launch of your jewelry line, your work on The Apprentice, and your position on the board of Trump Casino Entertainment. What made you want to start a jewelry line?
A: I’ve always loved fine jewelry and I thought it would be a fun, creative challenge to start my own line. I’ve tried to do a younger interpretation on the classics and also tried to change the retail experience, to create an atmosphere that’s friendly, relaxed, and where the sales people aren’t bullying you into making a purchase. The goal is to make it a more enjoyable experience for women buying jewelry.

Interview with Emeril Lagasse

Emeril Lagasse

Emeril Lagasse   Biography for Emeril Lagasse

Chef, Restaurateur, Author, and TV Host

Lagasse hit the food world with a “Bam”—literally. Shortly after his eponymous television show began airing, “Bam” became one of those ubiquitous phrases, like Donald Trump’s “You’re fired,” that people would just blurt out when the spirit moved them. But behind the “Bam” is one of the country’s most experienced and accomplished chefs.

Q: What’s unique about your restaurants?
A: Each one of our restaurants is designed to be unique. A restaurant has to have heart, soul, and always provide a great customer experience. Our warm style of hospitality is comfortable and attentive without being too formal. It’s all about providing our guests with great service, and outstanding food and wine, in a beautiful atmosphere.

Interview with Lauren Bush

Lauren Bush

Lauren Bush   Biography for Lauren Bush

Founder, FEED Project, World Food Program Spokesperson and Model

This 24-year old is more than a pretty face with a famous last name. President George W. Bush’s niece—model, designer, and Princeton Alum—has taken on hunger with her socially-responsible line of totes called FEED bags.

Q: How did you get interested and involved with world hunger and poverty issues?
A: Back in 2004, while I was a student at Princeton, I got involved with the World Food Program when they were looking for student spokespeople. The first trip I took with them was to Guatemala and I was so moved by the experience that I knew it was something that I wanted to work on. So after my return I started traveling around to colleges across the country and doing presentations about hunger and poverty in different countries and what the WFP was trying to do.
