Print E-mail
Barney Softness

Dr. Barney Softness of West End Pediatrics in New York shares some tips on choosing a general pediatrician.

  1. Proximity to the home, availability of appointments, and friendliness of the staff are usually important to most families.
  2. Find out where the doctor admits patients, in the event your child should have to be hospitalized.
  3. Availability after hours and finding out who covers for the doctor when they are not available. It can make the difference between being seen in the office or in an emergency room.
  4. Assess if the doctor is caring, spends time with you, and listens attentively.
